What Happens Next?

Helping your child feel comfortable and excited about starting kindy is crucial for a smooth transition. You can create positive conversations about kindy in your everyday interactions with your child.

For instance, you can mention the location of the kindy during outings. You can also talk about when your child will start kindy, putting it on the calendar to build anticipation.

Knowing familiar faces at kindy can also ease your child’s worries. Mentioning the names of other children who will be attending the same kindy, or asking if they know any of the educators, can help your child feel more at ease.

A Gentle Bridge Between Home & Kindy

Capalaba Kindy maintains a small kindergarten community. We have no more than 27 children in our Kindy program and no more than 22 in our Junior Kindy program.

For some children this is their first experience outside the family home. Our approach fosters a warm and family-like environment, ensuring a close-knit community for your child to thrive in.

Learning and preparing for kindy

Understanding the routines at kindy can also help your child feel more comfortable. If you know the names of the educators, use them in your conversations, especially if you are transitioning from another childcare center. Ask your child what they think they will be doing during group times, outside play, and other activities to involve them in the process.

Reassuring your child and teaching them how to ask for help is essential. Remind them that they can always seek help from the educators if they are worried or unsure. Practice simple ways of asking for assistance, such as “Can you help me with my shoes, please?” or “I don’t know where to play, can you show me?”

Be part of the kindy community

Becoming part of the kindy community can also help your child feel more at home. Attend transition sessions, spend time with your child in the kindy program to familiarise them with the environment. Take the opportunity to get to know your child’s teacher and other staff members, as building relationships with them can provide a sense of security for your child.

By taking these steps, you can help your child feel comfortable, confident, and welcomed as they embark on their kindy journey at Capalaba Kindy.

Prior to commencing at our service, you will be required to complete all enrolment documentation and pay a $100 enrolment fee (non-refundable). If your child/ren remain till the conclusion of our kindergarten program then this fee will be deducted off your final account.
